Why Do Program Managers Make Great Coaches?

Program managers are wired to navigate the systems within a program. We understand that people and teams are not just a single training program, a quick one-fits-all answer, or a one-and-done solution. Program managers appreciate that people live in systems and are themselves a beautiful, complex set of systems.

It’s Jakki, your loyal canine co-coach, here to share why program managers are naturals at coaching!

We approach people, teams, and projects holistically. This holistic approach is something I’m enjoying as part of iPEC’s (Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching) ICF certification program. At iPEC, coaches and clients are encouraged to examine systems and see multiple perspectives at once, a concept known as Holographic thinking. This is one of the skill sets that supports the creation of meta-plans, a powerful systems-based coaching tool.
