How Would You Wish to Be Remembered?

Tis the time of year for reviewing and setting goals.
As you start your planning/ reflections, I’d invite you to look at this from a different lens:
Instead of what do you want to DO this year, consider who you’d like to BE.

I was struck this morning by the headline in the paper, celebrating the life of President Jimmy Carter.
The headline read: The Peacemaker.
These simple words took my breath away.

President Carter did many things in his 100 years: he was a farmer, a naval officer, a teacher, a builder, a writer, Governor of Georgia, 39th President of the United States and a recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. Like most public figures, his works and achievements are discussed and debated.

But here is how he described himself in a 2018 Interview: ” I kept our country at peace and championed human rights.”
Whether you agree with his politics or not, here was a man who knew who he wanted to BE and acted accordingly.

I’m posting this NOT to have a political debate, but to offer this as an inspiration.
How do you want to BE seen as a leader? How do you wish to be remembered?
And how do your goals for 2025 and beyond reflect this wish?

Wishing you all a safe and inspiring new year.
