Finding Balance in Polarized Times: The Healing Power of Gratitude

It’s Jakki here, your loyal canine co-coach. In today’s world, we’re often surrounded by polarizing views and divided communities, and it’s understandable that we get pulled into feelings of conflict and negativity. Even I, Jakki, feel a bit discombobulated sometimes. So what can a pup like me do to feel more balanced? After much tail-wagging thought, I remembered that we are in the season of Thanksgiving, and that gratitude can be a healing practice.

Why Gratitude is a Healer:

Fosters Connection: Gratitude shifts our focus from what divides us to what unites us. By recognizing the good in others, we can bridge gaps and foster deeper connections.

Encourages Compassion: Expressing gratitude helps us see the world from another’s perspective, fostering curiosity and understanding even when we disagree.

Promotes Positive Dialogue: A grateful mindset encourages positive communication. When we focus on what we appreciate in others, we create a more open and constructive dialogue.

Enhances Well-Being: Gratitude boosts our overall well-being, making us more resilient and better equipped to handle challenging conversations and situations.

During this season, I choose to “PAWS” and celebrate the amazing people I work with (confidentially, of course!) and express gratitude for all they have taught me this year. I hope you will join me by sharing your stories as well.
