Rescue dog. Co-coach. Inner critic whisperer.
Hi friends, itās meāJakki.
When I first joined Heatherās pack, I had a Gremlin the size of a Great Dane. Her name was Skitter. She told me things like:
š£ļø āThe world is loud and dangerous.ā
š£ļø āDonāt trust the sidewalk.ā
š£ļø āStay small. Stay quiet. Stay safe.ā
Skitter wasnāt trying to be mean. She was trying to protect meāfrom honking cars, sudden movements, and memories I couldnāt explain. But her voice kept me from exploring, connecting, and walking tall.
So Heather and I did what we now teach in our workshops:
We promoted Skitter.
We gave her a new job:
ā
To remind me Iām safe now.
ā
To help me pause and scanānot panic.
ā
To celebrate every brave step I take.
Now, when I walk down the street, I still hear her sometimes. But sheās softer. More curious. Sheās become my inner guide, not my inner guard.
Gremlins donāt disappear. But with love, play, and a little coaching, they can evolve.
If your team has a few Skitters of their own, I know a great workshop.
(And yes, thereās confetti.)
